My life… my happiness!

I love to read blogs, so when we decided to create this blog amongst friends, I thought it would be a fun way to stay connected and learn about one another! I hope that you enjoy reading our daily posts and can share in this experience with us!

1. What is the best meal you have ever had, and where was it from?

For most people, their favorite meal was likely one that was prepared by someone else.  But a few summers ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to take a private cooking class in Rome, Italy and it was uh-freakin-mazing!  The four course meal that we prepared took nearly five hours to create, but taking the time to learn about authentic Italian food and the culture was something I will always remember.

2. If you wrote a song, what would it be about?

Music isn’t really my thang.  I’m an absolutely terrible singer, yet I sing every.single.day with my preschool children.  One sweet girl commented last week, “I could listen to your pretty voice and silly songs all day long”.  That comment alone made my week.  All that to say, if I had to write a song, it would be something preschool related.  My preschool children have such a love for learning and fearlessly try new things.  I’d love to write something that we could sing and laugh at together.

3. What is your most favorite time of day?

Coming home after work.  I love referring to my two dogs, Bela and Libby, as my welcoming committee.  They are always waiting at the garage doors with something to show me – a favorite toy, shoe, even a piece a paper.  They aren’t very particular – they just have to bring something to say “Welcome home, Mom!  We’ve missed you”.  They are consistent in the love, kisses, and companionship that they provide.

4. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Easy, take me back to college….the days when I was so “stressed” about the time commitments of my studies, stayed out waaaay too late with my friends, and met the love of my life.  I’m grateful for the experiences I had those 4 years, and will always remember the lasting friendships and memories that we created.

5. What physical or emotional quirk were you born with?

My skin is so fair (read: really, really, really white), but a good spray tan can make all the difference! 🙂

6. If you could change one thing about yourself, today, what would it be?

I wish I had more patience.  I’m guilty of wanting instant results – and I need to remind myself that I need to find peace and joy in the journey.

7. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make your rich?

I would love a job as a professional organizer or an interior designer.  My husband always jokes that nothing is safe in our house.  I am constantly moving furniture, changing wall colors, and reimagining old spaces.

8. If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be?

My grandfather.  Technically I met him when I was very young, but I don’t have any recollection of our time together.

9. What do you get complimented on the most?

I’m a girl who loves to be organized.  My motto: “When in doubt, throw it out.”  If you haven’t used it, missed it, or thought about it in the past month…get rid of it!

10. What have been the top 3 most brilliant days of this year?

Our first family cruise.  My parents surprised the whole fam with a Disney cruise this past February and we had a blast.  Sunshine, sand, Disney characters, nightly shows, endless chicken fingers and chocolate chip cookies– it was the perfect combination!

Buying our 2nd house.  My husband and I live for a challenge, and when we saw our current home, we knew with some hard work and updating, it would be the perfect fit for our family.  In January, we put in our first offer, only to be COMPLETELY rejected the next day.  We were so discouraged so we waited patiently for a month, and resubmitted a new offer.  We were thrilled when it was accepted!  A few days later, we listed our first home, in hopes that we would be able to sell it ourselves.  It was a gamble, but a risk we were willing to take.  Only 3 days later, we had multiple offers and had SOLD our first home.  We are still currently updating our “new” house.  Slow and steady wins the race—right?!

#3 is something that we’ve been thinking/praying about for a long time, but I don’t feel it’s the right time to share— stay tuned!

11. What is something you have given a lot of thought to lately?

Faith.  God has played such an incredible role in my life, and I am thankful every single day.  My husband and I continue to explore our faith, and find strength in others who are walking on the same journey.

Keep checking back!  The stories continue again tomorrow with a new outlook on the same questions!
