After much persuasion and the January theme of Birchbox I decided to give it a try to $10/month including shipping how could I say no! Rachel was more than thrilled that I finally gave in after using all of her favorite products for years. This past January they had a special Korean skincare box that you could opt in to. If you are unfamiliar Korean’s have developed new and exciting makeup and skincare more advanced than any products here in the US. If you are looking for more information check out Glow Recipe (great online resource with step-by-step, and you can also purchase online).
The States are finally jumping on the bandwagon and it is becoming a bit more accessible here in the US. I have seen a few products available on Target’s website and at Sephora. There were 3 products that I’ve used so far. This was a great way to try out a few great products before I purchased the full size versions.
RE:P – Bio Fresh Mask with Real Calming Herb
Retail – $41.00This was a traditional clay mask it cleansed my pores and exfoliated my skin. Overall I liked the sample but I don’t think that that I will be ordered it in a full size, it wasn’t that much different than any other clay mask’s I’ve used. I would give this a 3 out of 5 stars.
Goodal: Yerba Mate Bubble Peeling & Yerba Mate Cleansing Foam Packettes
Retail – $20.00-$40.00
There were different price points for the cleansing foams and the bubble peeling. I really liked these products the cleansing foam was super creamy and the scent was super fresh and amazing. It left my skin super moisturized and took off my makeup with no problem. The bubble masking was super interesting, when you put it on it bubbled on your skin and tingled. I used both of the products back to back my skin felt amazing afterwards. This cleanser is something I will definitely be picking up in the future. Overall both of these products get a 5 out of 5 stars!
I am really excited to try out the rest of the products in my Birchbox! I would highly recommend a subscription.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and can we say the busiest! My house is bustling thank goodness I decorated two weeks ago! Check back next week to see our annual Sotirokos tradition!
Last Saturday Rachel my fellow 5andwhiner and DIY master, got the great idea to make a craft for the holidays. I choose something that neither of us had in our homes and would come in handy. A holiday card holder, I mean lets face it there’s only so much room and so many magnets for the fridge. This craft also only cost us about $15 each since we split alot of the supplies. So after a somewhat exhausting trip multiple stores we had all the supplies to get us started. Below is a list of items you will need to get started.
-Chicken wire (we chose the hexagon wire)
-Inexpensive frame any size (we picked ours up at Goodwill)
-Tiny flag banner (optional)
-Black acrylic paint
-Pack of varying mini clips
I had a little teaser last week for my Halloween costume and you guessed it I went as a bond girl…sort of! I was going back and forth on something to wear and finally Sunday before the event/Halloween I decided to check out Rent the Runway and see if they could ship me something before Friday (procrastinator i know)!
I found that the website was super easy to navigate and they had specific sub categories so that I could narrow in on my vision. I decided to go with the an all over gold sequin Badgley Mischka gown that was gorgeous and came in a short which was another great little surprise. Since it was so glittery I didn’t even have to add any large accessories everything else I had at home!
I picked up a coupon code online for first time users so I ended up with an additional $25.00 off. The dress came in a bag with straps, a return label that slipped in the front and it doubled as a garment bag ( I was obviously very impressed with the packaging). As for the dress it was the most amazing fit in the bust but I made it work and for the 6 hours I had it on it was amazing, I received so many compliments and gave out so many recommendations to use the site. Overall I will definitely use this service again it was a lifesaver in this situation and they have so many options for so many occasions!
With Halloween coming up this weekend I am getting very excited to help at Kristina’s Gala on Friday and dress up. Can you guess what I’m going as??? More on the blog next week as I talk about my experiences with Rent the Runway!
