A few days ago Sydney lost her beloved “paci.” It was the pacifier she had from day one and she loved that thing like there was no tomorrow. We searched high and low for her paci and it was nowhere to be found. Syd handled like it like a trooper. She asked about it, pouted, and then moved on to her playdough, or color books, but I knew bedtime would be when she would fall apart.
We prepped Syd a little bit and that’s when the “Paci” Fairy was invented. The “Paci” Fairy can come at anytime after a a little boy or girl turns three. She takes the pacifiers of “big kids” and recycles them and makes new pacifiers for all the new babies around the world. Syd loves babies and talking about babies so this worked great for her. Her face lit up when I told her that part. Now, here’s the kicker…the “Paci” Fairy will leave a piece of candy under the pillow of the boy or girl who “donated” their pacifier. Syd fell for it, hook, line and sinker.
To be completely honest, I was beyond impressed with how well she did. She fell right asleep, and didn’t wake up once in the middle of the night. The next morning, she did ask about it, I reminded her that her “paci” went to a baby who needed it and she smiled and asked for breakfast. Later on that day, my husband texted me and said she had found her “paci”…I guess the “Paci” Fairy forgot one. For now, we’ll let her keep it, but the “Paci” Fairy will return.
