I know, I know – it is only Tuesday At this time in the week, it is hard for me to think about a cocktail. I’m usually panicking over chores, dinners, and how to prepare for the next crazy adventure ahead of me. But this past weekend we made our favorite Whiskey Sour’s and we are really starting to perfect this one! Here is how we do it … run out and impress your friends this weekend!
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Bookers True Barrel Bourbon (This stuff is smooth but sneaky! Use any whiskey or bourbon that you prefer.)
- 1 oz Water
- .5 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
- .5oz lemon simple syrup *
- Whites of 1 egg
- 1 Maraschino cherry
- few drips orange scented bitters
*Lemon Simple Syrup: Bring to boil equal parts sugar and water, stir until sugar is dissolved. Add fresh squeezed lemon to taste. I did 1:1 Cup, and .5 cup lemon juice.
Pour Bourbon, Water, Juice, Syrup, and egg whites over ice in a shaker. SHAKE HARD! I try to do a full minute – but at least count to 60 in your head.
Pour over Ice in a Mason Jar Glass, add cherry, and as much bitters as you enjoy!
The egg white is the secret. And it is necessary for this drink. The whites make for the creamy frothy texture.
I also think you should never substitute fresh citrus. Hint- get creative! Sometimes we use Oranges instead of the classic Lemons!
Psst- I add extra lemon and syrup to mine to make it just a bit sweeter 🙂
Cheers !
Now go on with your new fancy bartender skills !
