On August 19, 2012, I took a vow to love Lance Waltman continuously, for the rest of my life. We were dating for nearly eight years before we got married, and I didn’t think it was possible I could love him anymore than I did right then and there. I just thought if we could continue to love one another that very same amount for the rest of our lives, then we would be set. We just needed to keep it there.
Our ceremony was unique, and filled with “us”. Once in a while, I like to read through it to remember how amazing the time was. Here’s one of my favorite parts:
This story unfolds when Lance and Kristina met at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Lance lived down the hall from her and they had really great conversations. Kristina admits that she was first attracted to Lance’s really nice blue eyes, and that he was really cute, seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Although it began as a friendship, it didn’t take long to know that strong feelings were developing as they spent more time together. In Kristina’s words, “He was so different from any guy I had dated. I love his heart and he saw in me what I couldn’t see in myself. We have so much fun together and Lance makes me laugh so hard even when we aren’t doing anything at all. We truly enjoy preparing dinner and eating on the deck while drinking wine.”
Likewise, Lance was immediately taken with Kristina’s beauty, and being a private person, he became so comfortable around her that it wasn’t long before he was telling her everything about himself. He told me, “she has a big heart and cares so much about the people around her. I love how much fun she is to be around and all the little things she does for me each day make us grow closer and happier than ever. I knew I was in love with her before we even started dating.” When Lance accepts his wedding ring from Kristina later in the ceremony it will always remind him of her and this special day.
Time has passed and I can only say I love him more now than I ever have. He is the most caring, loving and genuinely amazing person I have ever met.
